Random Wednesday.

I know, I know...you've all been on pins and needles eagerly awaiting the return of my Random Wednesdays. {KIDDING!} Wait no further. It's back. More random thoughts/opinions from my brain spewing atcha...take em as you will {hopefully with a grain of salt}.

  • Loving the singer 'Adele' right now. Never heard of her? {Sigh}. Click HERE for my current favorite from her. Note to self: Must buy her new cd pronto. Yes...I still buy cds. I like to kick it old school. That....and well...I'm technically dysfunctional and still don't know how to download from itunes. {Double sigh}.
  • How dare Wendy's go and change their fries on us? What were they thinking? That was my favorite thing about them! It's not the same now when I dip them into my Frosty.
  • Soooo tired of seeing Justin Beiber fans, Taylor Swift, audience members at concerts, etc... make the shape of a heart with their hands. Way too corny for me. And I myself am pretty corny.
  • Joe and I stumbled across a show that just may be our new favorite on the Food Network. The host? Marc Summers. Need I say more? Ya...as in the original host from the back in the day Nickelodeon show DOUBLE DARE. How could we instantly NOT like it for that reason alone? It's called UNWRAPPED and it 'uncovers the mystery' of different types of foods and snacks and the process of what goes into making them. Very fascinating. And fun to watch. That said....the other night Summers 'unwrapped' the secret of bologna and said that his favorite way of eating it was fried up with onions. Joe decided to give it a whirl and I promise our house still smells strangely like burnt vacuum because of it.
  • Speaking of vacuums. I am in love. With a new one. It's called the ELECTROLUX and it puts the Dyson to shame. {I really don't get what all the hype over Dyson's are about anyways?} Too bad the Electrolux I want is 2 grand. I guess I'll just have to keep replacing my cheap vacuums with....more cheap ones.
  • Did you hear the good news? Elton John is hosting Saturday Night Live THIS weekend. I am giddy with anticipation. Little unknown fact about me: I love EVERY song Elton John does and ever has done. My fingers are crossed that Billy Joel makes a guest appearance and sings a duet with him. That. Would. Be. Bliss.
  • I have a facebook pet peeve. I hate it when people update their status' with unended answers. For instance: "Test results aren't looking good....." What? Are you dying? Or.... "I can get through this..." Get through what??? Are they WANTING us to pry and leave comments? Totally wish there was a {dislike} button for this reason alone.
  • What does the singer P!NK mean when she sings about being 'Too school for cool?' Does that even make sense? Am I the only moron who doesn't get it?

Candlestick Jars.

Joe's cute cousin Jane has a blog which you really should check out HERE. Last year, she posted a tutorial on how to make darling candy jars attached to candlesticks. I decided to try my hand at it and make some up for my mother-in-law for Christmas. They were super fun to make and I'm in the process of making some now to match my kitchen. The candy jars I made as a present are above {sorry about the poor picture taken from my phone} and here are Jane's cute candy jars:

All dolled up for Halloween. She gives you a step by step tutorial on what you need and how to make them HERE. I couldn't find the plain wooden candlesticks ANYWHERE....so I purchased a box of 3 candlesticks from Wal-mart and then spray painted them white to match Marilyn's kitchen. I also couldn't find the finials she was talking about for the tops of the lids so I purchased door knobs from Target on clearance and spray painted them white as well. I used Gorilla glue to attach the jars to the candlesticks once everything was nice and ready. Happy Crafting!

American Idol Thoughts.

Yes...since I am back to blogging...you must endure my American Idol thoughts now on a {somewhat} weekly basis. I am pleasantly surprised at how much a) I like the new judges and b) I like this new season. Lots of talent. I have THREE top picks this year but first let me say:

Casey Abrams is not one of my favorites. He kind of had my 'underdog' vote at the beginning but each week, he creeps me out more and more. Did you see him almost faint from excitement last week when they used the 'save' on him? Most people thought it was cute. I however did not.

Also. If this girl doesn't go home this week:

I'm writing a letter to FOX to complain. She should've been ousted 2 weeks ago.

Now. That said. Onto my favorites:

Charming? Yes. Good voice? Yes. {Reminds me of Ray Lamontagne whom I L-O-V-E!} Good dance moves? NO! Actually quite horrendous, aren't they? I choose to look past that though because he is such a dream boat. Rooting for him all the way.

As well as:

Pia! Such strong pipes and always so graceful and poised. Mark my word...she is the next Celine Dion.

And we must not forget about my last fave:

Stefano. Stefano. Stefano. {Sigh}. He's my dreamboat numero dos. I have loved him every week.

A close FOURTH place FAVE goes to Lauren Alayna. What a doll. And next in line after Naima to go should be Thia Megia. Mainly because of the fact that her name rhymes. And I hate hearing Ryan Seacrest say it.

Thoughts? my fellow idol junkies?

Darling Easter Wreath.

I'm in need of a new Easter wreath for my front door. I don't know about you....but after a few years...I get sick of the same ole same ole. Lucky for me {and YOU} I stumbled across Courtney at the adorable blog A DIAMOND IN THE STUFF and I now need to search no longer. She made this fabulous SQUARE grass Easter wreath and I love everything about it! I'm headed to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to get my supplies. Click HERE for her detailed instructions.

Our Spring Break has consisted of....

This little sass-a-frass bossing the entire household around like there's no tomorrow. There's one person in charge of our household and it's not me. And it's not Joe either. She rules the roost lately {or at least tries to}. All potty training attempts with her have been put on hold until this next one goes back to school.

We started Karate lessons with the boys because we were offered a month FREE! And it's a good thing because to sign them up for good...would almost cost about as much as our mortgage. No thank you. {Note to self: think of something quick to entertain them with once the freebies are all used up!}

Carson has NOT gotten out of his jammies for the entire 2 weeks. He's going to have it hard once he starts Kindergarten and actually has to get dressed for the day. I don't blame him though really. If I could get away with wearing my old ratty nightgown out to the store...I'd do it too. Lucky duck.

Also during Spring Break we've:

*All gotten the flu simultaneously within 12 hours of each other. If you come over to our house and smell something {funky}...we're probably just still trying to air out the barf fumes. Those babies are potent.

* Gone to see the movie MARS NEEDS MOMS. The boys loved it. Me? Eh. Cute story but I'm not really into the whole alien thing. Go figure.

* Welcomed Jenny and William's cute little baby June Bug into the world. She doesn't know it yet but she and London are already BESTIES. London refers to her as her 'fluffy bestie' and that is that. Watch out world... I have a feeling the 2 of them will be a sassy force to be reckoned with.

Forgiveness Handout and Lesson

I teach the 12-13 year old girls at church each week. Since a lot my friends also have this same calling, I like to post my lesson ideas and handouts for others to use. Today's lesson was on "Forgiving Ourselves" and the manual used a couple of different analogies having to do with 'rocks'. I thought about making {candy} rocks as part of my handout but...it was 10:00 at night and I just didn't have it in me. I settled on running to Albertson's and buying the next best things that {looked} like little rocks....NERDS. The typed up part of this handout came from Sugardoodle HERE. I embellished with scrapbook paper and ribbon tape. The containers holding the NERDS were purchased at the Dollar Tree. Happy Teaching!

Water Bottle Labels - Free Printable

I've fallen in love with a new website: Bump Smitten. They feature all {darling} things having to do with baby showers. It's where I go for a lot of my inspiration when it comes to party planning. Lucky for me {and you} they're giving away a FREE downloadable printable for water bottle labels. I'm a big time sucker for those. Especially when they match up just perfectly with the party you are planning. Click HERE to access them. {Warning....they are all SUPER cute!}

Friday To DOs:

  • Get my hair done. {Hallelujah}. Who knew I'd have this much gray by the age of 32?
  • Pack the kids overnight bag for a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa Lamoreaux's. They are beyond excited. In fact, I'm almost positive that if they had a choice, they would move in with my parents and kick Joe and I to the curb. My parents rock. They really do.
  • Drop the kiddies off and head to a resort in Paradise Valley to celebrate our Anniversary! Woo Hoo!
  • Try THIS restaurant for dinner. We've never been before {I LOVE trying NEW places!} and it comes highly recommended.
  • Order room service for dessert and stay up late with the hubs watching COPS on TruTV. It's our favorite thing to do at hotels ya know.

It's Easter at our house...

but first....I have a confession. I already love blogger. Why did it take me so long to convert? Question though: anyone out there know how to upload more than 5 pictures at a time? Would love to know.

The kids have been eagerly anticipating me pulling out all of the Easter boxes and sprinkling our house with all things eggs and bunnies. I finally caved {they really didn't have to twist my arm TOO hard} and Easter is all around us now. Would you care to take a peek at a few of my favorites?

I really really really wanted to get the Easter Tree at Pottery Barn Kids this year. Until I found out it was $50. So my little one will have to suffice. Click HERE to see the tree I'm talking about. Please oh please go on sale after Easter this year so I can drool over it in person next year. {Is it weird that holiday decor is so delicious to me? Don't answer}.

My darling friend Rebecca always gives me the BEST most USEFUL presents for Christmas and birthdays. This last Christmas she gave me this fabulous centerpiece bowl that I just adore. I couldn't resist filling it with sparkle-y eggs and grass!

I'm a sucker for apothecary jars. And filling them. Such an easy way to decorate. This one sits on the coffee table in our living room.

P.S. For those of you wondering....YES...you can still access my archives...you just go to my old blog. Haven't figured out a way to transfer it all the way over here. Yet.

Butter Bars

So super excited to start posting yummy recipes again. My cute friend Liz gave me this one and it was DEE-LISH. I made them up for a little movie night I had at my house the other night with my cute 12-13 year old girls that I am in charge of at church. I would SO make them again. Super simple. Seriously amazing.

Butter Bars
Crust:
1 yellow cake mix
1 egg
1/2 cup butter (1 cube), melted
Filling:
1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 stick butter, melted
3 cups powdered sugar
Combine crust ingredients and pat into a 9 X 13 pan. Beat cream cheese, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Add butter and sugar. Mix well. Pour over crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

A new start...

Phew. A new blog. So much to think about! I thought {for a minute} that maybe I was through blogging. I know, I know...GASP! But then I remembered my brain has diarrhea and that holding all of my RANDOM THOUGHTS in.....would never be a good thing. So lucky for you....I'm back to sharing! {Smile} Plus....kind of excited about switching over to blogger. Many of you have told me in the past that my old blog was hard to load. Or to leave comments on. So now people...there are no excuses. I AM however, slightly computer illiterate and so bear with me as I get this baby up and rollin. {I don't even know what half this stuff means on blogger....what's a follower? I'm not sure but I'm adding the gadget anyways}.

So why the name LET THE GAMES BEGIN? It's a long story for another post but it has to do with Joe and I. And one of the first times we met. And coincidentally, we just so happen to be celebrating our 8TH Anniversary this weekend. Eight years of wedded bliss. {Chuckle!} LTGB 0327.....love you babe!

Shamrock Snacks

St. Patrick’s Day is the one holiday I refuse to decorate for. I’m zero percent Irish and I don’t drink beer. So why bother, right? I do however make the day festive for my kids sake. These darling little Shamrock Snacks found over at Sun Scholars may just find their way into Grant’s lunch on the 17th. They are TOO cute and made out of yogurt covered pretzels. So.....healthy too! Click HERE for the directions.
