Random Wednesday.

* Why OH Why does Bed Bath & Beyond find the need to stack their merchandise clear to the ceiling?
Do they REALLY think that in one day's time, theyr'e going to sell 75 foot massagers?
Don't they have a back room where they can store their surplus?

* American Idol and Survivor need to retire.
In my college broadcasting days, I studied all about TV shows Jumping the Shark.
These 2 shows have definitely done that, and then some.

* Speaking of shows, have you seen Crown Chasers on TLC?
Oh. My. Gosh.
Those beauty queen wannabes are somethin else.
It's like a train wreck, Joe and I could not turn ourselves away from the other night.

* I saw a pin on Pinterest the other day boasting a
'No Crust Strawbery Pie' recipe.
What THE?!?
No Crust?  That's usually the VERY BEST part!
Way to kill a good thing recipe maker.

* Do anyone else's kids say 'What???' ...when YOU KNOW they heard you the first time?
{It may or may not be getting on my last nerve}.

* The Costco variety chip bags...

Can someone PLEASE inform the makers of these boxes that NO ONE and I mean
  NO ONE eats the Fritos!!
What a waste of chips.  It never fails.  We go through an entire box and there are ALWAYS the same exact amount of Fritos left as when we first bought the box.

* Our family watches AFV {almost} every Sunday night.
Does it bother anyone else that the WINNERS of the show...
NEVER act THAT excited?
They win $10,000...sometimes MORE!!!..and when the camera pans to their faces.. they look like they just heard a bad joke. Expressionless, really.
Get me on there and I'd be doing CARTWHEELS for cryin out loud!

* McDonalds breakfast? So good.
McDonalds everything else? So nasty.
Why is that??

*Miley Cyrus is officially gross.
Why do Disney stars find the need to TRY to 're-invent' themselves after their run on the cable network?
It never turns out pretty.

Her Hannah Montanna days looked MUCH better on.

The Coombs Family Back to School Dinner.

Sunday night we held our annual
Coombs Family Back to School Dinner.

I {LoVe!} this little tra-dish that we've created with our kiddos.
My kids were GLOWING the entire evening.

We served spaghetti with meatballs {the kids' favorite!}....

....and we toasted the new school year with some bubbly Gingerale.

The main focus and reason for our dinner was to explain to the kids what our
  FAMILY MOTTO for the school year was going to be.

Joe and I spent a lot of time thinking about this.  We knew that we wanted to create a MOTTO based around a SCRIPTURE VERSE and this is the one that we chose:

Joe taught a little lesson about being STRONG and COURAGEOUS.
We wanted the kids to recognize that WHEREVER and WHATEVER  they did this year...
the Lord was going to be with them.

We showed THIS cute video clip about what it means to be a TRUE hero.
It exemplifies Captain Moroni and explains COURAGE and STRENGTH.
{AND brings a tear to your eye too}.

{The video has a second part to it as well}.

I wanted to give the kids a little present for the evening...
 Something to remind them throughout the year of our Family Motto.

I decided on making them keychains to hang on their backpacks.
{And when I say 'make' I mean...
I bought everything and my talented friend Chanda put it all together for me}.

Each charm on the keychain symbolizes something from our motto.
Each charm is also something we talked about that evening as well.

Lion - represents Daniel in the Lion's Den.
Daniel had COURAGE.

The Color RED - stands for COURAGE.

2013 - the year

ARROW - the arrow used by Captain Moroni to defeat Zerahemnah.
{Joe also pointed out that ARROWS are STRAIGHT and NARROW.  Just like arrows..we encourage or kids to stay on the STRAIGHT and NARROW path in life..and not be swayed by temptation.

Each keychain also included the charm from childrens story...representing someone who had to show COURAGE and STRENGTH.

 It was SO fun watching how excited my kids were when we placed these on their backpacks for the year.

I decorated our kitchen table and family room with printables found online from HERE and HERE.

I printed out the scripture myself and then purchased a RED {courage} frame.

We've placed this now on one of the bookshelves in our family room where we can see it ALL the hopes of always remembering what our motto is for the year.

We've also challenged the kids to memorize this scripture as well, which we'll work on throughout our Family Home Evenings this year.

This Weekend:

* I spent all day Friday preparing for THIS fun bridal shower.
My mom took the kids for the afternoon so I could get things done like baking and cleaning while singing at the top of my lungs to songs like THIS and THIS.
{Gosh I love my Pandora *Natasha Bedingfield* station!}

* Friday night we busted out the popcorn and candy boxes and watched ourselves
{They've only been advertising this movie since January, it seems!}

I thought it was super cute as did my kiddos.
The only bad thing? Carson barfed red vines halfway through it on the middle of my family room carpet.  And did I mention I had just finished cleaning for a bridal shower at my house for the next day? Bleh!

* Saturday morning bridal shower.

* The kiddos and I shopped for school supplies {along with the rest of the entire Chandler School District, it seemed!!!} So packed at Target you couldn't even walk down the school supply aisles.

* Ate dinner afterwards HERE.

* Churchey-Church on Sunday.

*Enjoyed the RAIN, yes RAIN! throughout the afternoon.

* Sunday night we held our
Annual Coombs Family Back to School Dinner
with the kiddos.

Cannot wait to share all of the fun details of this evening!

* Finished the weekend off with whip cream shots....

....and a mean game of Flinch.
{Which just happens to be the best card game ever!  My Grandpa Misel taught me how to play and us Lamoreaux's have been playing it ever since we were little.  We've now passed on the love of the game to our own kiddos and it is SO much fun to play with them.}

* The boys laid out their First Day of School outfits and went to bed as giddy as could be...all in anticipation for their new school year.

When I went to check on them before going to bed, I found them like this:

Guess there really was no need for separate beds afterall!
{These two melt my heart!}

Bridal Shower Brunch.

Yesterday I threw a bridal shower for our darling babysitter.
She's been babysitting for our kids since they were babies....

She is SUPER special to our family which is why I was SUPER excited to host her shower.

Here are some details from the festivities:

Her wedding colors are: coral, mint green and gray.

For centerpieces, I covered tin cans with scrapbook paper and embellished the tops with ribbon.
I then filled them with fresh flowers.
{Can't ever go wrong with fresh flowers!}

I also decorated with two burlap banners.
I bought the banners plain, and then die cut the letters for 'Mr. & Mrs.' and 'Love' and hot glued them right onto the burlap.

For beverages, I served water and punch...

Water bottle labels, as well as food cards and favor tags
were all designed by Tipsy Graphics.
{LOVE working with Michelle at Tipsy Graphics.
She's quickly become my go-to gal for labels and designs!}

As for the food, I served....

The take home favors might have just been my favorite.
Homemade sugar cookies packaged up like this...

The morning was LOTS of FUN and I couldn't be more excited for our lil babysitter.
She's got such a bright future ahead of her.
Can't wait for the wedding now!!

Meet the Teacher Treats.

I love making cupcakes.
{On my list of dreams? Start a cupcake business outta my own home}.

Tonight we had our "Meet the Teacher" night at school
 and here's what we came up with to bring the boys' teachers
{who I might add are going to be FABULOUS! So blessed with such great teachers yet again!!!}

Printable tag from eighteen25.

Super easy to make, really.
They just involve sanding sugar, a pretzel stick and a sugar leaf!

Bulletin Board ideas.

I have an older sis who teaches 6th grade.
{And I don't mean to brag BUT...she's a really really good teacher.  ALL the kids want her}.

School starts next week and she enlisted my help with her bulletin boards.
{I strangely enough find stuff like this thrilling!}

We thought it would be fun AND fitting to do a social media theme.
Thanks to's what we came up with:

There are 29...yes 29!!! students in her class this year.

She wanted something funny for her profile pic.
Thank you google images for amusing us.

This quote was just too funny to pass up.
{Fingers crossed her principal doesn't make us change the word 'idiot'.}

As for the inside of her classroom, we came up with this....

I'm so happy with how it all turned out!
Can't wait to help her with more.
