Part 2 - Annual Coombs Family Halloween Bash

Usually when we hold our family Halloween party - - we play an intense game of Fear Factor.
You can read all of the gross details HERE.

We wanted to keep it clean this year {and especially didn't want anyone barfing in the yard over gross things tasted} so we switched things up with a Pumpkin Carving Contest.

The kids had A LOT of fun helping the adults do this.
{Yes - - that one on the bottom left says 'Poop'. I won't name names but it was one of Joe's brothers.  The kids thought it was hysterical!}

All 6 of the finished pumpkins lined up!
We had our neighbor come over and judge who's she thought was the BEST......

....and she picked my Father-in-Law's!!!!
Super clever - - it's the one with the 'barf' coming out.

I also handed out a little Halloween Trivia game at the start of the evening. You can find the game I used HERE

The winner of THAT game proudly went home with this...

From Target.
Doesn't that look......gross?

We also had a 'GUESS THE M&Ms in the JAR' contest.
I purchased this jar from Target....

And filled it with 3 big bags of peanut butter M&Ms.
The person who's guess came CLOSEST without going over got to take the filled jar home!

{Note: 3 bags of pb M&Ms = roughly 542 pieces.
I was secretly hoping Joe would win.}

The party favors I made were super simple.

I found some cute paper loaf pans at JoAnns for 70% off and made my favorite Pumpkin Chocolate Chip bread.

Tied it up with a little tag and....wa-lah!

Annual Coombs Family Halloween Bash.

Monday night we held our
 Annual Coombs Family Halloween Bash.

My kids really look forward to this
which makes it all the more fun to plan!

{You can see the invitations we sent out HERE.}

I tried to capture lots of the details from the evening...

Place Settings at the Adult Tables.
Gosh, I love Hobby Lobby's paper plates.

Candy bags are from the Martha Stewart Halloween line.
They're the perfect size to fit just one mini candy bar inside.

I don't know why I'm obsessed with place settings and name cards but I just am.  And these were SUPER simple.

Mini pumpkin + fake spider + name printed on cardstock.

The kiddie table....

Jack o' Lantern tablecloth and paper plates from Target.

We had a POISONOUS POTATO BAR that included
bbq chicken and chili as choice of toppings.

Cornbread Coffins with honey butter

Vomit aka spinach dip

Pumpkin Snickerdoodle cupcakes with severed fingers

And lots of spooky sodas to go around.
{Bottle labels from HERE.}

We had everyone come in costume and Joe's family are really good sports when it comes to this!

It's always fun to see what everyone comes up with.

I even dressed up this year!
Shocking, I know.
Can you guess what I am???

Gotta love a good PUN.
It's also quite possibly one of the easiest costumes out there.

Even Grandpa dressed up this year as a Sun Devil fan!

Our house was filled with lots of laughter and love that evening and we wouldn't have had it any other way.

Details from part 2 ... coming tomorrow.......
Games, our Pumpkin Carving Contest and Party Favors!

This Weekend:

* Friday was a pretty BIG day for London.
It was her LAST day as reigning
and her teacher ate lunch with her and then took her to the vending machine to pick out WHATEVER she wanted!!

Yup, she was on cloud 9.
{Thank you Buist for capturing the sweet moment!}

*Friday night was the annual Costume Ball at our school and it was the official unveiling of the
 Coombs Kids' Costumes for 2014.

We  had......

Elvis Presley

A light up stick figure who just so happened to win the 1st place prize for BEST BOYS COSTUME at the ball.
{I think his non-stop sweet dance moves might've
helped him edge out his competitors just a bit.}

And a sassy 5 year old bride with WAY too much bling.

The kiddos literally danced the night away with their friends and had a BLAST!

Yes, this pic is blurry but it catches Grant's outfit in the dark.
As well as Carson doing one of his epic Elivs moves.

* Basketball game on Saturday.
It was Grant's team's first official game of the season and....
they got creamed.
Like majorly.

Oh well....he had fun and better luck next time, right?
{Fingers crossed.}

Lunch at Moreno's afterwards.
Chips and bean dip ALWAYS make a tough loss seem not so bad, right?

* The rest of my day and evening was spent prepping my room for the annual Stake Youth Spook Alley.

My friend was in charge and asked me to be in charge of one room.  Naturally - - I had to pick a Creepy Clown theme because clowns are the FREAKIEST creatures on the earth, right?

One of my old Laurels volunteered to be the actual clown and  she popped out and scared people as they came through.
So. Funny!!!!

* Joe was waiting for me when I got home and we stayed up late eating popcorn and watching Jim Carrey host SNL.
2 thumbs up for his gig.
One of the funniest SNLs they've had in a LONG time.

* Churchey-church on Sunday.

* Dinner at my parents house afterwards.

 Dessert in 80 degree weather
on their patio on the golf course.
Doesn't get much better than that.

So much fun in store for this week I can hardly stand it.
{And by that I mean - - I hope I make it! Lol.}

* Coombs Fam Halloween Bash at our house tomorrow night

* Trunk or Treat on Tuesday

* Class parties

* Lam Fam bash and trick or treating on Friday night.

and Saturday....we rest!!!
