Day 1 - Southern Utah.

Our first day at the cabin brought us down the mountain to Cedar City - - a place I called home for 3 years.

I attended S.U.U.and loved every second of it.

Naturally - - I'm trying to brainwash my kids at an early age that THIS is where they want to go, too.

{Joe wishes he attended as well.}

We also stopped by one of my favorite little drugstores ever.

{I had to explain to my kids that a 'drug-store' wasn't a bad thing. It's an old fashioned term I've used all my life.  This very same 'drugstore' was the same place we'd go as little kids when we'd visit my grandparents in the summertime to buy penny candy.}

My mom taught us a FUN new card game called 4 square...

.....and I've been sitting out on our front porch enjoying our view as much as possible.

Oh - - I started THIS book and already love it!

July Visiting Teaching Handout.

This month's Visiting Teaching Lesson is on:

My handout this month comes from THIS talk by
President Uchtdorf.  When I spied these cute Band-Aid's at Walgreens..... my idea was born!

ANY type of Band-Aid box would work for this handout!

I even thought it would be fun to use those CANDY Band-Aids they used to sell back in the day {anyone remember those?} BUT - - I couldn't find em.

To download a copy of my FREE handouts click HERE.
{There are 3 of each tag on one page}.

As always - if you plan to download any of my tags - I

just ask that you PLEASE make sure to become

an official follower of my blog

This Weekend:

* We started Friday morning off by seeing our weekly summer movie....

This is the SECOND time I've seen this movie and I can officially tell you that it's quite possibly one of the WORST movies ever made.  The ONLY reason we went this last time was because the tickets were $1, popcorn and soda were involved and it's been 112 degrees outside with not much else to do.

So. Lame.

* Afterwards we headed over to the mall with my sister and her kiddos to get these 2 cuties ears pierced....

London FIRST had her ears pierced when she was an itty bitty baby.  Yup - I'm THAT mom. Little girls + earrings is quite possibly the cutest thing EVER.

Around the age of 3 though they got infected and long story short - - they closed up.

It DEFINITELY took some convincing this second go around....

.....and after many tears.....she was glad to have it done.
Again.

* Friday night was spent watching {and dancing} to
 "Teen Beach Movie 2"...

I might've been more hyped up about this movie than my own kids.  {Remember when London dressed up as Layla for Halloween one year?}

* Saturday was a VERY special day.

Our cute friend Carrie got BAPTIZED!!!
It has been SO much fun to be apart of her journey and it was a special day that both Joe and I will never forget.

Afterwards we had a little reception at our house to celebrate.

* Sunday morning we hit the road for our summer VA-CAY!

Needless to say - - it was a TIGHT squeeze.

SUCH a beautiful drive.

Side Note:

I was SUPER excited to see this list of recommendations in my People magazine.

And..I started {and have now almost finished} this book on our car ride...

IT IS GOOD!
Like JUICY GOOD!!!

And all true.

Friday.

This is how I feel about this weekend.

Oh - - and I'll be blogging from our cabin in Southern Utah.
I. Cannot. Wait.

Books to Read:

THANK YOU for such a great response on filling me in on FUN games to play with my family!
I cannot wait to try them out.

Now...I'm searching for BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS.

One of my VERY FAVORITE things to do on va-cay is READ!

My sisters and I sit out on the front porch of our cabin and read and read and read.  It's bliss.
{Add to that a cool breeze + a Diet Dr Pepper and I'm in heaven!}

Here are a couple of books that I just ordered off of Amazon Prime {OMG how great is that whole thing?!} to take up with me:

Gonna borrow this one from my mom when she's done reading it...

And is it bad that I REALLY want to read this one...?

I haven't ordered it....yet!

So what books have YOU read that you really REALLY love?

Oh and you should probably know - - I've never read the Hunger Games nor do I intend to. And while we're on the subject....I didn't like the Twilight series either.
{Gasp, I know!}

I like: true stories, funny reads and romance.

2fer Tuesday.

2 Fun & Quick Reads:

You'll be super surprised to see what some of these women look like! Totally NOTHING like I had envisioned.
{'Belle' especially!}

These are good!
And trust me - - I'm pretty proficient in all things Target.
Even a few of these tips were NEW to me!

2 Fun Finds:
{Since I've been slacking on my Fun Finds Friday lately}

These latern jars!
Only $2.98 at Wal-mart.
Wouldn't they be FUN to line your driveway with on the 4th of July - - all lit up with candles inside?

And this one's not as much of a FIND as it is a FUN IDEA!
My niece had a SWIM party for her birthday yesterday and so my sister whipped up these mermaid tail towels as party favors.  Aren't they darling??

She just used elastics to make the tail and then velcro strips around the waist! London LOVED hers.

Fun Family Game Favorites.

Next week our family will be enjoying MUCH cooler temps in Southern Utah {a place very near and dear to my heart}.

The Lamoreaux's {my side of the family} stays in a cabin up there evey year over the 4th of July.

We are really REALLY excited for this annual tra-dish.

Two of my FAVORITE things to do at the cabin are:
Read & Play games.
{Busy life seems to get in the way of those 2 things here at home}.

So I'm asking my blog readers a question....
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE GAMES TO PLAY TOGETHER AS A FAMILY?

I'm looking to buy 1 or 2 new ones this week
to take up with us.

Suggestions appreciated!

And please don't say Settlers of Gatan.
We don't have the patience for that one.

Meanwhile - - here are some of OUR family's FAVORITE games to play together:

I've been playing this card game since I was a little girl.
My grandpa taught my siblings and I how to play and it's become one of our FAVORITES of all time.
So fun to NOW play it with my own kids.

Mexican Train
My parents introduced us to this one.
{They even play it 'in a group' once a month with their neighbors.}
It's good for ALL ages!!!
Spot It!

If you like ANY type of 'I Spy' type of games or pictures - - you'll LOVE this game. I promise. It's fast paced and good for EVERYONE. Unless you're my dad - - who NEVER seems to be able to find ANY of the pictures he's looking for.
{Chuckle}.

LOVE this one!
It's a fun one to play too with other couples.

******************

Oh and one more question....
after we hit up Southern Utah for the week - - we are heading to the Salt Lake City {Heber} area.

Any places to eat that we MUST TRY?!?

Sunday, June 21, 2015

This Weekend:

* Friday - - London finished off her
'Busy with the Buists' camp.

The boys' 3rd grade teacher and her husband held this FUN little camp all week and spoiled London ROTTEN!

Grant and Carson got to go on the last day
 and swim with her.

Doesn't Carson look like he's walking on water?
LOVE this pic!

* Meanwhile - I ran errands and treated myself to lunch at Jimmy Johns.

I feel the need to express my opinion about this place.

People RAVE about it ALL the time.
I'm not sure why.

3 Problems with Jimmy Johns:
#1: They don't have onions.
#2: You can ONLY get mustard ON THE SIDE in a tiny little packet.
#3: THEY ONLY HAVE ONE TYPE OF CHEESE!
And it's PROVOLONE!

I will give them credit however for having good bread.

But that is all.

* Friday night we took my parents out to dinner for Father's Day HERE {It's one of my dad's fave places}.

Taking the above photo was no easy task.

We had a random lady photobomber in the background and we died laughing!

* Saturday morning while Joe golfed,
the kiddies and I went to see....

Image

This might just be my new FAVE movie.
It has such a DARLING message and Amy Poehler is an absolute crack up!

Also - - the 'short' before the movie even began called LAVA - - too too cute!!! I cried!

* We stopped at Old Navy afterwards to grab some 4th of July shirts for the boys.

Big Mistake.

It was $1 flip flop day and the place was PACKED!

Remember how I once said that I usually avoid shopping ANYWHERE on Saturdays?! I don't know why I seemed to forget this that day.

I was also quickly reminded as to WHY I usually get a babysitter when I go shopping during the week.

* Churchey-church on Sunday.

We celebrated JOE! and he took a 4 hour nap after church.
{I was mildly jealous}.

* We hosted Father's Day dinner at our house this year for Joe's side of the family.

Joe's brothers - minus his identical twin - with their dad.
Grateful for such great in-laws.

This is how we do 'drinks' at our house.
We're so wild and crazy, huh?

On tap for this week:

* Prepping for our Utah Summer Va-cay.
I can't wait.

* My cute friend is getting BAPTIZED this week!!!
I can't wait.

Summer-y Slush-y Drinks to Try.

It's been 115 degrees here ALL week long.
I wish I were kidding...but I'm not.

Us 'Zonies hibernate in the summertime.
It's like what people in the cold weathered states do during their winter snowstorms.

While I could sip away on my Diet Dr. Pepper all day inside - - I do like coming up with fun, new and refreshing drink ideas for my kiddos.  ANYTHING to keep us hyderated in this heat!

I've started a list of drinks that I want to try out this summer and these are at the top of my list:

Watermelon Slushie!

This one is PERFECT for the leftover watermelon we always seem to have each week. Oh -- and it has a secret ingredient: Cool Whip!

Ocean Water!

This one's not technically a 'slush-y' per say but it looks FUN and REFRESHING nonetheless.

Plus - - my kids are SURE to love it since Sweedish Fish are involved.

Frozen Strawberry Limeade
Yum!
No description necessary.

Orange PushUp Smoothie

Remember eating orange PushUps as a kid?
I do.
This smoothie looks like a big gulp of heaven.
