This Weekend:

* Friday morning I met up with some super awesome ladies from my Stake Womens Conference committee to spray paint centerpieces for our big event this week.

Eek!
This is going to be SUCH a fabulous evening.
I cannot wait to see it all pan out - - we have been prepping  for this FOR MONTHS!
{If you live in the area but aren't part of my stake and would like more info to attend - - message me! }

* I headed straight home afterwards and got to work baking 8 dozen sugar cookies.

My friend let me borrow her Bosch mixer and oh my goodness! It made my life SO much easier. I have very bluntly told my husband that I NEED one of these for Christmas. ;)

* Friday night was our annual elementary school FALL COSTUME BALL. This event is easily my kiddos favorite school event of the year.

London and her cute little friend.
And how cute are these teachers/friends of mine???

So clever, right?!

* Saturday morning we hit up our favorite donut shop because, duh!

You KNOW it's some good donuts when the line is out the door!

THINGS WORTH MENTIONING from this:

#1: Holy cow! London's hair is dark!

#2: London is going thru a phase where she thinks stripes on the top and stripes on the bottom 'match'.

# 3: Bosa's breakfast sandwiches are where it's at!
Soooooo yummy.

* We ran errands afterwards and then picked out pumpkins...

A brand new shnazzy grocery store opened up by our house and OH....MY...GOSH....this place is like the most deluxe grocery store I've ever been in!

They even have a 'chicken wing' bar - - so many flavors to choose from.  Carson was on CLOUD 9!

* The rest of the afternoon was spent watching my cute nieces.

Can you even stand how cute this one is???

* Sunday morning was OH SO special.

My handsome nephew received the Melchizedek Priesthood.
SO neat to be apart of such a special thing.

He leaves on his mission to Barcelona in just 2 weeks.
I can't even believe it!

* Afterwards I headed straight over to the nearest clinic to get my ear checked out. It has been causing me SO much pain {remember..I JUST had an ear infection in the other ear}....

...and sure enough! I had yet ANOTHER ear infection.
Seriously...what are the odds?
I NEVER get ear infections and then...
2 in 2 weeks???

Sigh.
Grateful for antibiotics and pain meds.

* No churchey-church for me.
I sent Joe and the kids off and went right to bed.

* Crockpot cream cheese chicken and rice for dinner with...

....'BUTT' rolls {a family favorite!}

* We ended the evening by carving pumpkins...

...and if I'm being honest...
I enjoy carving pumpkins about as much as I do coloring Easter eggs.
{Not very much. Is that bad?}

So....Much....Mess.....

Oh well.
My kids had fun and we created memories and let's be honest - - - that's what it's all about, right?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Halloween is officially over - - can you believe it?
We had a lovely evening here at our home with family and friends, yummy dinner and dessert and LOTS of candy.

Feeling very blessed to be surrounded by such good people.

Onward to this week......
our big Stake Womens Conference!!!!!!!

Fingers crossed it all goes as planned.
I may be having nightmares about this.
LoL.

Family Favorite Halloween Costumes.

I myself, am not much of a costume girl.
If it's easy - - and involves a pun - - I'm game.
But if it's much more work than that - - I get intimidated.

Here are some Coombs Family Favorite costumes from years past:

2015: Deviled Egg + 'Cereal' Killer

Egg made out of white poster board and yellow cardstock.
Cereal boxes purchased at grocery store and then glued onto a shirt with knives poked thru.

2015: Mary Poppins and the Chimney Sweeper
I DIED with this one!!!!!!!!
It turned out so perfectly.

I made Joe's 'sweeper' by just spray painting a wooden dowel. Then I got a styrofoam ball and black pipe cleaners and just stuck em all around to look all crazy.  I added more spray paint on top of that to cover up the styrofoam.

2014: Light up Stick Figure
{compliments of Target}

2014: Bride

2014: A Deer in the Headlights

2014 - - vest and hat found from Goodwill

2014 - - you guys!
My cute sister-in-law and her family ALWAYS come up with the MOST CLEVER costumes! When they came dressed as 'emojis' one year I nearly lost it!!!!! SO fun!
She MADE these out of cardboard.

2015: Can you even stand it???
Again...she MADE these!!!
So talented, these two.

2014: Elvis Presley

2013: Napoleon Dynamite

2009: Michael Jackson
My very favorite costume EVER!!!!
Grant was in Kindergarten with this one.
My mom MADE the jacket, glove and socks!!!

Oh - - and Joe's sister and husband came dressed as his back-up dancers....

I LOVE looking back at these!
SO MUCH FUN!!!

Coombs Halloween Party: Fear Factor Game

The second part of our Halloween Party last weekend involved a gross/fun/gross game of Fear Factor.

Did I mention...it was gross?

I wouldn't have had it any other way ;)

I came up with 6 different rounds and it was family verses family. Winning family won a gift card to Dairy Queen.

Here's how it went down:
{At the end of this post there is a printable PDF version of all of these rules so that YOU can play this at your Halloween parties, too!}

Round 1: Banana Hose

Pick one team member to place a pair of panty hose over their head. The first contestant to eat an ENTIRE banana THROUGH the panty hose WINS! Winning team gets 20 points.  And I don't mean to brag but.....London totally rocked this round and won it for us.

Round 2: Yummy Gummy

Each team picks 2 people.

There's a mama bird and a baby bird. The mama birds job is to dig into the whip cream pie, only using your mouth, and find a gummy worm.  Once you find the worm - pick it out with your teeth and place it in the mouth of the baby bird {your partner}. No hands allowed! The baby birtd must then eat AND swallow the worm. First team to finish all FIVE worms wins 20 points.

Round 3: Slug Scrabble

One person from each team must sift through the slugs and worms to spell out wordes with the alphabet crackers {Cheeze-Itz found at Wal-mart}. Words must be more than 2 letters long.  The team to spell the MOST words in 1 minutes wins 20 points.

Slugs/worms were purchased in the fishing department at Wal-mart.

Round 4: Lean Cuisine

Pick one person from each team.
In each bowl, per team, I placed some 'mystery meat' which included sardines {barf!} and chopped up Vienna sausages {Anyone else feed their kids those when they were little? Double barf}.

The person must grab a sardine or 'mystery meat' in their mouth {no hands!} and place it in the empty container next to them. They must transfer as many food items as possible within 1 minute. The person with the MOST items in their bowl wins their team 20 points.

Warning: the sardines smelled SO nasty that one of the dad's doing this round barfed.  No joke.

Not my husband though - - - he won this round like a champ! ;)

Round 5: Pest Control

Can you even believe they sell these???
Found them at my local candy store  and wanted to vomit.
Which naturally meant...I just had to have them.

For this round - - anyone could participate.
30 points awarded for every cricket CONSUMED.
20 points awarded for every mealworm CONSUMED.

And EW! One of the dad's ate ALL of the crickets.
At once.

Round 6: Bottoms Up

Also found at the candy store....
G-A-R-O-S-S bottles of flavored soda.

I lined up 4 shot glasses for each team with a different flavor in each glass.

The person to chug ALL 4 shot glasses won 20 points.
Side note: I did not tell them the flavors of these sodas beforehand.  It was a ....mystery. Mwahahaha!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

You guys....this game was seriously fun!
And hilarious to watch AND participate in.

Coombs Halloween Party 2016.

Another Coombs Halloween Party is in the books!
Everyone came dressed in costume and it made my party planning heart oh so very happy!

I scored Joe and I's SNL Spartan Cheerleading costumes from none other than...Goodwill. You don't even wanna know HOW excited I was.

Pretty close, right?
LoL.
We LOVE these SNL characters and quote their cheers ALL the time!

My kids all chose their own costumes this year:

London - - - the Eiffel Tower

Can you even stand it?!?

Carson - - - Ed from the movie Good Burger

He even wanted to make sure his costume was complete with grapes up his nose. P.S. My kids DIE LAUGHING at this movie.  It's an all time fave.

Grant - - - a Morph

...and he 'morphed' right on into our backdrop!

How cute is this family?!

My friend Brooke is super clever and came as an 'Identity Thief'.

Cute Rebecca and her darling girls.

And these two might have just been my favorite.
They came as....POLYGAMISTS!!!

We were ROLLING!

For food - - we had a nacho/taco bar.
How can you go wrong with that?

Shredded beef, homemade refried beans, cilantro rice, and the very best pumpkin cake ever.

Vomit - - aka Spinach Dip and our traditional 'Guess the Candy Amount' in a jar

So fun spending the evening with these folks.
We sat out on the patio talking and laughing our heads off til after 10 pm while the kids played inside. So grateful for their kind hearts and funny sense of humors.

Up Tomorrow: ALL of the details from our rousing game of FEAR FACTOR.
{It. Was. Gross!}
