2fer Tuesday.

2 THINGS WE NEED TO DISCUSS:

Image
Joe and I just finished watching the 2 part documentary series on Princess Diana from last week on ABC.

{London watched most of it with us, too. It's totally normal that she wants to be Diana for Halloween now, right?}

Did you see it? Thoughts??
I'm completely obsessed.
What a sad life she led for most of her life.
I just adore her.

Image
There's a family out there called 'The Bucket List Family'.
They quit their jobs and sold everything so that they could travel the world with their kids.

Get. This.

Their next project is to stay at Disney World for 30 days and 30 nights at a different Disney World hotel each night.

What the what??!!
#GOALZ
You can read all about it HERE.

But seriously - - who's funding this for them if they don't work???

2 RANDOMS:

Ughhhhh...who can relate?!?
I have such a love/hate relationship with trying new recipes.
LOVE trying them.....HATE when my family doesn't eat em.

Speaking of food...

THIS CARNE ASADA 😍😍😍

I bought it {already seasoned} from my local grocery store {Fry's} and my cooking guru friend told me how to cook it {since I don't know how to work our grill and Joe wasn't home in time from work to grill it.}

I broiled it!
I set the broil temp at 500 degrees and broiled it for about 5 1/2 minutes on each side.

Then...I let it set for about 10 minutes.

IT.  WAS.  HEAVENLY!!!!!
You have GOT to try it.

HAPPY TUESDAY!

This Weekend:

* Friday morning started off with a bunch of errands.
And when I run errands near a Goodwill - - you know I have to stop, right? If you follow me on Instagram - - you know that I may have an obsession with the books I find there.

* Afterwards, I met up with one of my favorite friends for lunch.  This friend LOVES trying out new restaurants just as much as I do so we're pretty much a match made in food heaven.

Locals: Add this place to your list of MUST TRY restaurants!
It's on Alma School and Ray and it's a tiny little place.

They serve hand pies - - ALL kinds!
TO DIE FOR hand pies!

Before we even ordered they let us sample their dessert hand pies...

I'm not even kidding when I say that I've been dreaming about this chocolate ganache hand pie all weekend long.

The chocolate inside of it was AMAZING!!!

Their traditional chicken pot pie also stole the show for me...

They have a few sides to choose from and I would DEFINITELY recommend the bacon mac n' cheese that my friend ordered.

So. Delish!!!

* Eye Appointment for Carson on Friday night.

Poor kid takes after me when it comes to vision.
He'll be getting glasses SOON and he's OH SO EXCITED about it!

* We ordered take-out with the kids on Saturday night from one of our favorite mexican joints.

Fact: The greasier the take-out bag holding the chips - - -  THE BETTER!

* Saturday I hunkered down in my craft room and worked on Etsy orders...

So grateful for this little side biz of mine.
It makes me SO very happy to know that people loved our family back to school dinner so much so - - that they want to recreate it for their own families.  Heart.  Full.

* London and I played school.

Any guesses on who was the teacher?

* Date night Saturday night.
MORE mexcian food {shocking, right?} with one of our favorite couples!

I order this 'Flying Saucer' every. single. time.

* Sunday we got to sleep in and kick it in our jammies until about 2 in the afternoon.  Then we gussied ourselves up and headed to the Tucson Arizona LDS temple dedication.

My heart just about BURST Sunday afternoon being able to be there with my whole family. I love these people more than life itself.

Image

Can you even stand how gorgeous this new temple is?
I pretty much blubbered my way thru the entire ceremony - - the talks given were SO good and just what I needed to hear.

Plus - - hello? Silver Fox aka President Uchtdorf?!?
He hits a home run with me every time he speaks.

So. Much. Joy.!!!!!!!!!

Ice-Cream Party.

This post is sponsored by Oriental Trading.
I received items from their company for review however all opinions are my own.

School has been in session now for 3 weeks and it was time to celebrate with an ICE CREAM party! I let each of my kids choose a few friends to come home with them one day after school and we snarfed down all things sweet!

This little shin-dig was SO much fun to plan because hello?!? who doesn't LOVE ice-cream?

I used paper lanterns for decoration as ice-cream scoops and then just added a brown posterboard rolled up as the cone.

The kids LOVED it and were SO excited to come home to this spread.

I'm almost positive no one ate dinner for their parents afterwards 😁 I might've let them have seconds.  And thirds.

To throw your own ICE-CREAM party - - be sure to check out the I SCREAM FOR ICE-CREAM Oriental Trading products HERE.

Also from this party:

{I'm pretty sure I need one of these in EVERY color now!}

Try these recipes.

I have 2 yummy recipes to share today but no pics to go along with them.  I just wasn't on the ball enough this week to think ahead like that.

This week it seems as though we've had 1,001 things to do each day.  And on top of it - - Cubby.

He legit ate London's book from school.
Sigh.
This dog!!!!
It's a good thing I love him so.  Because otherwise....!😝

Anyways...give these recipes a try - - they were a huge hit in our house this week.

Note: I did not bake the first three ingredients.
I just added everything together as is.

Oh and I didn't have any sesame seeds.
Well....I did.
But they had an expiration date of 2007.😳
I figured it would be best if I just left em out.

LOVE the crunch in this salad.  I think I had it for lunch 3 days straight.

Mrs. Bernardi's Chocolate Chip Cake

1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup oil
1 cup water

Topping:
2 Tbs. sugar
1/2 cup Nestle's Quik
1 package chocolate chips

Beat eggs. Add other ingredients.  Beat well.  Grease 9x13 pan and pour 1/2 of the batter into pan.  Mix topping and pour 1/2 over the batter.  Pour in remaining batter.  POur remaining topping on batter.

Bake for 40 minutes at 350 Degrees.

My best friend in the whole wide world growing up was Jill Bernardi.  This is her mom's recipe.  It is SO yummy and reminds me of playing at her house as a kid.

Remember when I said we had cake and ice-cream for dinner last weekend? This was the cake I made and it did not disappoint.

2fer Tuesday.

2 RANDOM THINGS:

These chips - - SO good!
You can buy em at Costco in a big bag.

Image

ITALY!

Who's been?
My husband I are going this fall - - -
what MUST we do and see there?

2 FUNNIES:

Word.

Does anyone else get mad at their kids when they say that they're STARVING but when you list a handful of things they could eat - - - they say that none of them sound good?
Starving? Really?

This girl 😍
She's my sidekick.
She wants to do EVERYTHING with me and I sorta like it a lot!

Left picture: her trying on my glasses while I'm taking a nap
Middle picture: her 4 leaf clover
Right picture: her waiting for me to WAKE UP from my nap.

{She's not a fan of my naps and refuses to do that with me!}

This Weekend:

* Friday morning I treated myself to breakfast.
Making it thru the week with everyone still in tact is a big deal, am I right? 😜

I'm almost positive I could live off of Einstein Bagels Diet Coke and their sesame bagel TOASTED with plain cream cheese.

* Afterwards I headed over to the AZCEND center in downtown Chandler to do some volunteer work.

I really do love this place and the opportunity I've been given to work directly with the homeless community.

If you're local and wanting to get more involved with service opportunities in the community - - this is the place!

* I dropped by the grand opening of a brand new Goodwill just down the road, afterwards.

Big mistake.
The place was packed.
Which reminded me of why I don't shop at Goodwill on 1/2 off Saturdays.  TOO MANY PEOPLE!

I did however manage to spot some interesting sights....

Like this lady wearing excercise pants with go-go boots.
And no...she wasn't just trying them on - - I saw her later in the store rockin the same combo 😁

Also to be mentioned - - the guy standing next to me in the book section farted.  Out loud.

Also - this...

I swear people were acting like it was Black Friday in there!
And nothing was even on sale!!

* Our Friday afternoon was spent at the pool right across the street from our neighborhood.

London's sweet 3rd grade teacher {and my dear friend} planned a class party for everyone to get to know one another better. {How fun, right??}

Some of the 3rd grade bunch.

Well, it was all fun and games until some toddler pooped in the pool 😳 and everyone had to get out.
London and her peeps locating the poop.
Seriousy, so gross!

We headed over to their school afterwards for the annual BINGO night put on by our fabulous PTO.

We made sure to get their early so we could snag our good seats.  Good thing - - as it got packed!

Such a fun FAMILY night!
I just love this community that we're apart of.

* Saturday morning we mixed things up a little and got McDs for breakfast instead of donuts. {Gasp, I know!}

The kids played with friends all day long which included a drink run and basketball at the church.

Their friends stayed for a 'late night' and we had cake and ice-cream for dinner {yup, I'm that mom}.

{We don't do sleep-overs in our house.  Just late nights which consists of their friends staying over much later than normal.}

*Churchey- church on Sunday and it was just the spiritual uplift I needed. Gosh, I love having my bucket filled each Sunday by the lessons and testimonies shared. I feel like I learn SO much from those around me.

* Sunday dinner at my parents house.
My mom made my fave - - pot roast and mashed potatoes.
Per usual - - hers always tastes SO MUCH BETTER than mine. So fun to just relax at their house on Sunday night and do nothing. It was just what we needed.
