2fer Tuesday {on Thursday}.

2 Random Bits:

How did I not know about these?!?
Have they been around forever?
Have you tried them yet?
It's on my grocery list for this weekend.
YuM!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS๐Ÿ˜ฉ
{And I LOVE cooking with onions!}

2 GREAT READS:

Also - - do you ever read an article that just speaks directly to your heart? The following one did just this, yesterday to me...

by Dennis E. Simmons

I can't even begin to put into words how much I loved this.
I read it twice!

This past week has been {sorta} a doozy for us.
{Ever have one of those weeks?}

This article reminds me that FAITH IS REAL and the LORD IS WATCHING OUT FOR US.
ALWAYS!

Our Bishop always reminds our ward that 'the Lord is in the details of our lives!'.....and although sometimes we aren't quite sure if He is even there......He is!
ALWAYS.

Some of my favorite quotes from the above article:

"Men accomplish marvelous things by trusting in the Lord and keeping His commandments—by exercising faith even when they don’t know how the Lord is shaping them."

"Faith is not bravado, not just a wish, not just a hope. True faith is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ—confidence and trust in Jesus Christ that leads a person to follow Him."
"Faith is believing that although we do not understand all things, He does. Faith is knowing that although our power is limited, His is not. Faith in Jesus Christ consists of complete reliance on Him."

Happy Thursday!
I'm MORE than ready for a long weekend.
Aren't you?!

Yummy Peach Cobbler Recipe.

As promised, tonight I'm sharing with you a MUST TRY Peach Cobbler recipe.

I love it for 2 reasons:
#1 - it's delish
#2 - it's super easy

Added tip: always use fresh peaches from Utah if you can.
They're THE BEST.

This recipe comes from Life in the Lofthouse.
I adapted it to my liking just slightly.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups sliced FRESH peaches
  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 2 quart baking dish with non-stick spray.

  • Spread sliced peaches in a single layer in greased dish. Sprinkle tops of peaches with 2 Tablespoons sugar.

  • In a medium bowl, beat 1 cup sugar and softened butter together until combined. Add flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Mix. Then add in egg and vanilla. Continue to beat and mix together until just combined.

  • Using a spatula, carefully spread batter over the tops of peaches. Try to spread out as evenly as you can.

  • {Batter will be thick. I had to use my hands to sort of press it all out onto the peaches.}

  • Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Remove from oven and let set 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Enjoy with a scoop vanilla ice cream!

This Weekend:

* Friday started off with birthday celebrations for my momma!

I met my parents and sister for breakfast HERE.
Fun Fact: They give you a piece of FREE pie on your birthday! And their pie >>> everywhere else.

* Afterwards I headed to Costco to stock up on some food for a luncheon I was in charge of this past weekend.

Costco on a Friday or Saturday is NEVER my favorite thing.
I usually try and avoid it at all costs on these days.
The line JUST to get out the door was a mile long.

*Once back home I cleaned up my house and did laundry, all while jamming out to my favorite tunes....

I know, I know. I feel like I should be at least 10 years older with the music I like to listen to some days. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Seriously though - - the Elton John Pandora station is ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

* Date night Friday night with one of our favorite couples.
We tried THIS {new to us} burger joint in Chandler...

I thought it was SUPER yummy.
My burger was delish {it had garlic mayo on it! Mmmm!} and their onion rings were just the way I like em.

Joe however, was not a big fan.
He thought their burgers were too greasy.
I blame it on the head cold he had all weekend๐Ÿ˜œ

We headed to BJs for dessert, afterwards.

These 2 make us laugh so hard!

We got the pizza cookie trio - - 1 oreo 1 pb and 1 chocolate chip.  Yum-A-lish! Such a fun night.

* Saturday I spent most of the morning at my stake center, preparing for a luncheon that I was in charge of.

I was told to prepare for 20-40 people.
Wait. What?
That's such a hard number to prepare for.
You either buy too little or way too much.

We ended feeding about 35 people and I still....had way too much leftover.

Also: guess where THE BEST place is to order subway style sandwiches from for a party? Wal-Mart! Can you even believe it? I ordered 1 - 6 ft sandwich and 1 - 4ft sandwich and they were DIVINE.  Their bread was fresh as was their meat, veggies and cheese.  People snarfed em down.

Plus....their prices were phenomenal and SOmuch cheaper than anywhere else I looked.

* I came home to CARSON FINALLY GETTING HIS GLASSES IN THE MAIL!!!!!

He's been SO excited for them to arrive and boy, does he look handsome in them!!!

* Another date night Satuday night with some of our favorite peeps. This time we tried my NEW favorite pizza place in downtown Chandler.

Seriously, SO yummy!
They're know for their 'big a*& pizza slices and they do not disappoint.  They are HUGE!!!

* Churchey-church on Sunday.
Well, for everyone but Joe. He stayed home sick.๐Ÿ‘Ž

As part of my calling in our church, I had the opportunity to visit 2 other ward Relief Societys on Sunday.

I love doing this.
It's so fun to get to know the different sisters in each ward.
Our stake has SUCH GOOD PEOPLE in it.

Sidenote: our Stake Relief Society is planning this fireside...

It's going to be fabulous.
If you live near me - - you don't even have to be in my stake - - it will be WELL worth your time to attend.

Not so FUN FACT: I have suffered from depression and anxiety for most of my life. I know that it is VERY real.
Chances are --- you know someone who suffers from it to.

I thank the lucky stars for a number of things, including medication - to keep me MY happy self!

* Sunday night we had one of our favorite friends over for dinner.

We are SO glad that our Judy is back in town and could eat with us!!!

Judy brought us FRESH AS CAN BE peaches from Utah.

I tried a new peach cobbler recipe with em and.....YUM.
I'll be sharing it with you tomorrow!

It's almost....FALL!

Let's be honest.
For us 'Zonies'....fall is still a good 2-3 months away.
For the rest of the earth....LUCKY! Your fall weather is SOON approaching.

A girl can dream though.
Come September 1st all things FALL are on my horizon.

{I will have you know...I have resisted walking the fall/Halloween aisles of Hobby Lobby. Even I have limits.}

Just today I started web surfing for decor ideas.
There is SO much goodness out there.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Image

LOVE the look of a fall leaf up against a glowing candle.
Details at Ella Decor.

Image

How much do you LOVE the simplicity of this fall leave hanging mobile? I'm not sure which I love more...the leaves...or the branch. Details from

Image

Popcorn is perfect for filling vases in fall.
It just looks so.....pilgrim-y, am I right?

Image
Oh how I miss the pinecones in Virginia.
Smelling cinnamon during the fall/winter season is at the top of my favorite things.  Totally might try this 'how to' from

For now...I'll continue to crank down my a/c.
It was only 105 degrees here today ๐Ÿ˜….

2fer Tuesday.

2 SHOWS TO DISCUSS:

Image

I'm {weirdly} excited for this series to begin.

Fun Fact: I've never seen a full episode of Law & Order in my life. But if you add the Menendez Brothers into it? I'm in.

Speaking of murder...

Image
Joe and I are totally into the A&E series about Laci Peterson.
Which is WEIRD considering we pretty much know all of the facts already.
{Our kids think we are cuckoo-ka-choo for liking anything remotely close to a Dateline.}

2 THINGS I WANT TO TRY:
Image

THIS restaurant {in St. Louis so it's gonna be a jaunt for me!} called Twisted Ranch.

Get. This.

Every single item on their menu has RANCH dressing in it.

EVERY SINGLE ONE!

Can you even?!?!
It's like a DREAM come true, right??

Image

THIS recipe for 'Copycat Levain Chocolate Chip Cookies' from the Brown Eyed Baker.

THICK chocolate chip cookies have my heart.
This recipe is making my mouth water!

This Weekend:

* Our weekend didn't really begin how I thought it would.
๐Ÿ˜

Joe went in for a routine physical with our family doctor.
Upon giving blood for normal lab work, he passed out and started having seizures.  SEIZURES!?! He's NEVER had these before.  EVER! When the nurse called me {I was at home} to inform me she said - - 'your husband has had some difficulty giving build and has had a few seizures and the paramedics are on their way'.....

Wait.  WHAT?!?!

I tore down to our doctors office which is about 15 minutes away {but felt like 60!} and arrived just as the paramedics were finishing up.

My husband is such a good sport - he knew full well this pic would end up on my blog.๐Ÿ˜‚

After multiple tests - - he checked out AOK.
Apparently, giving blood is NOT his thing.
Or mine.
Or Grant's.

Heaven help us all!

He was ordered NOT to go to work and NOT to drive for the rest of the day. And it's a good thing.  We stopped for a quick breakfast HERE since he was famished....{their breakfast burritos might just be my new fave!}...

....and headed home where he pretty much slept the rest of the day.  He woke up feeling MUCH, MUCH better,
 THANK GOODNESS!!!

It only takes one little scary episode like this to put things into perspective, am I right??

So very grateful!

* Since Joe was back to his normal self by Friday evening, I went ahead with some plans I'd had scheuled for a couple of months now.

I met up with some fun friends for dinner HERE
{their Happy Hour for burgers and apps is the BOMB!}...

...and then we headed across the street in downtown Gilbert to the cutest litle Studio 223 to spend the rest of the evening whipping up cute home decor signs.

We had a BLAST all together and I loved FINALLY being able to see how this process is done.

LOVE how mine turned out.
It's going right in my family room.

Also...

Is this not the CUTEST wall EVER?!?!
{This was painted in their bathroom.}

* Saturday morning breakfast at McDs.

{Side note: If you have not downloaded the McDs app for your phone - - then what are you doing?!?! It seriously has the best steals and deals.  Every week or so there's a FREE drink! FREE milkshake! Buy one get one breakfast sandwich....}

* Joe and I spent Saturday evening at our stake center helping out with a 'Standards Night' for all of the boys and girls in our stake, ages 12-13.

Yup - - that includes our Grant and you KNOW we wouldn't pass up an opportunity to spy on him at an event like this.
{Yup...we are THOSE parents!}

I helped my sweet friend with the dinner.
Did I mention there were 160 kids there???
We had ooodles and oodles of pasta and it was so fun to get to help put this on.

The kids rotated thru classes, had a lesson on proper etiquette and another lesson on the proper way to dance with a member of the opposite sex.  The kids had SUCH A BLAST!  Such a fun night for everyone involved.

So grateful for the wonderful community we're apart of.

* Sunday morning London woke up sick with a sore throat so I took one for the team ๐Ÿ˜… and stayed home with her.

I'm pretty sure she just needed extra snuggles from Cubby because she perked right up as the afternoon rolled in.

Back to School Printable.

It's BACK TO SCHOOL time around most of the country.
My kids started about 3 weeks ago and it's been BLISS having the house all to myself again.
Wait. Did I just say that out loud?!?๐Ÿ˜

It's always a good idea to shower your kiddos teachers with LOVE. Today I'm sharing an idea of mine from the past.

This is a perfect little something to bring on the First Day of School or your Meet the Teacher night.

Just add markers!!
I went with Sharpies....

All I did was pick up a soup container from my local deli.
{They usually sell them to you at your grocery store for like $0.10!}

I filled the container up with my Sharpies and then printed off my printable, glued it on and tied around
 some bakers twine.

Easy. Peasy.

My printable is complete for YOU to print out for FREE - - with all 6 grades included.

Download & Enjoy HERE.
